Being a mechanical engineer with a minor in electrical engineering, I liked the reference to the "degrees of freedom" a lot.

    Awesome comic.

    Heh, I agree, nice touch.

I think this is a good example of why many webcomics have two people writing them (so there's someone to bounce ideas off and brainstorm, instead of appealing to the reader base, see pennyarcade podcasts for some hilarious banter that turns into comics).

This comic is also very funny, which proves that even one man can come up with a brilliant idea (though everyone knows anyone who can create something wonderful on their own is "damaged goods", that's a good thing btw).

hmm... that robot looks suspiciously a lot like the GM factory robot arm from that one Super Bowl comercial a year or two ago, that angered a depression/suicide organization (can't recall what it was, exactly), because he tries to kill him self.

could this be an unofficial prequel? :P

    It's so true

Can that sort of robot arm-thing ever... hold a pencil/pen? (Or am I thinking too low-tech?) (:

Gaahh! This reminds me of my robotics course last semester. It wasn't my fav course....

If that isn't a commentary on the education system, I dunno what is.
And I really like that the robo-counselor is even emulating sympathy.

The new top-of-the-page is much better. : )

I appreciate a robot that uses a wooden pencil.

I wonder how he sharpens it

On second thought, I DON'T want to know how he does it.

Glass Menagerie reference makes me happy.

I just was looking at the last comic about chess, and it made me think that the robo-arm could be a killer chess player too...... Those pieces know all too well about degrees of freedom.

This reminded me of the Chemical Brothers music video "Believe"

I think it would have been better if the counselor was a human, then the third panel would have been a much bigger twist.

@nanothief: Agreed, the surprise effect would be stronger. But I think the robot guidance counselor serves the aesthetics of the strip very well.
