You move to an area, and you multiply, and multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet, you are a plague, and we are the cure.
  • ollie · 1 year ago
    no, we are just life.
  • Tearstains · 1 year ago
No other creature consumes oil. We exhaust the world's natural resources and destroy the environment in the process of spreading. Yes, we are just life, but we are the most dangerous life form on this planet.
  • ollie · 1 year ago
only to ourselves... aside from crashing our planet into the sun, nothing we do matters. life comes and goes from the surface of the planet with predictable regularity. and, in the big picture, the planet itself is just a speck orbiting a mote. not much more significant than the slime that grows on the moist side of rocks, raising the oxygen level of the atmosphere and creating a whole new biosphere.

so, if we suffocate in our own effluence, the planet will go on!
  • Steen · 1 year ago
Tell that to all the bacteria I've been working with that consume oil! Oil has tons of energy tied up in all those bonds, the only reason most microorganisms don't use it is because they can't get past the whole insoluble-in-water-thing. But, for those that do find a way, oil = feast time.

In fact, that's why so many times we drill and think we found oil, only to find out it's all been chewed up and spoiled by bacteria already. Usually just a bunch of useless short-chain hydrocarbons are left. Just like if you left a piece of chicken on your countertop too long.

LOL humans are viruses LOl I saw the Matrix too.

That said, if humanity was decimated, and I had the power to bring them back, I would not. But I would prevent the suffering of currently existing humans.

I always thought that quote was dumb because _every_ organism on this planet does that exact same thing. That's what life, all life, does.
  • Matt` · 1 year ago
That's what every organism tries to do, but most life isn't as good at it as we are, so they end up in some kind of equilibrium...

We win at consuming everything :D
  • Laith · 1 year ago
I'm pretty sure that this is from The Matrix, isn't it?

And, kudos to SCP, I've been a fan for a while now.

The advertisement is for... this very comic.
Red sky at night - sailor's delight.
That kid's head is actually Pac-Man.
  • Daz · 1 year ago
So I assume that the robot doesn't realise that his little friend is human.
  • Innominate · 1 year ago
The robot is a gigantic accordion baseball windmill chimney. What the hell?
  • scythemantis · 1 year ago
    Where did you get "baseball?"

I guess the wooden barrel hand looks a little like a glove...
  • Innominate · 1 year ago
It's some sort of scoop-hand, but it looks like a glove, especially in the final frame. It's even got striations between 'fingers'!

After reading this strip a second time, I got a little confused. Is the big metal dude talking about wiping out humankind, or getting rid of his own humanity? 'Cause, you know, even though he's a giant robot made for unbridled destruction and stuff, he's mind and actions are pretty human.

On the side, a kid pulling a red wagon: classic. Where the heck did you get this? Little Rascals? Precious.

A good comic like this and all the misanthropes come crawling out of the woodwork. I love it!
    DEATH TO HUMANS!
  • It's Me · 1 year ago
It's ironic that he talks of the "stench of humanity" while billowing out pollution the entire time.
  • ethana2 · 1 year ago
It is. I'd have to be sure a creature like that used renewable resources for energy before I supported its efforts to wipe out humanity.
  • Spaztick · 1 year ago
Am I the only one that got the Iron Giant reference?
  • scythemantis · 12 months ago
    I don't see one. Simply having a giant humanoid robot isn't a reference :p

Kevin's busy using his new thesaurus, stay tuned for next strip: "Melancholy robot"
  • Shou · 1 year ago
    His eyebrows moved!
Oh, wait, anyone can see that...
I've been away a while, so I thought I'd make back-comments (they help me to remember my spot in reading), and point out the obvious.
  • Ian S · 1 year ago
    First. It's quite sad really.
