The Mastodon song is old. Stop it.

Well, I think we all know who you're voting for this November. Excellent choice.

  • Winston Rowntree · 1 year ago
Is that a pale, bloated sea creature, or is it stephen harper? I can't tell.
  • RealGrouchy · 1 year ago
Why does Kissinger look like a bloated whale?

I still can't decide between Obama and a Ron Paul Write-in.
....I haven't been this torn since I picked the gpu option on my 1420n..

It appears you think Obama will win ;)

From where I'm from, people are ruled by an ass.

And we don't even need a human figurehead.
  • ollie · 1 year ago
@Winston Rowntree... I would say 'Both.' but then I noticed that it was clearly articulating policy... and realized that it therefore COULDN'T be Harper (Harper would be saying 'you can't trust the dophin, you need to be SCARED and vote for me).

@Zack... are you planning a nice 'editorial' comic for our election? maybe something about Harper firing the National Science Advisor, etc??

I wonder what happens if the old whale-thing is disobeyed?
Couldn't they just block off its airflow and kill it, so the country could be run right?
  • boring7 · 1 year ago
For some reason, the whale thing makes me think of Egyptian imagery with the way the wrinkles under its eyes look.

and of course they cannot kill it, it's undead.
  • Nick · 1 year ago
    I only have one question.

    Why Norway?
  • Das Ganon · 1 year ago
Why not? they have tons of trees..... and Norwegian women.....

plus we could use it as an oil write off......

although personally, I'd invade canada and turn it into an amusement park...... "Canadaland" where everyone IS a stereotype.
  • the internet · 1 year ago
    Stolen from southpark.
Come up with your own stuff.
  • Ragnar · 1 year ago
Of course the whales want war with Norway, we've been killing them for ages.
  • Kevin · 1 year ago
they still make south park?! I haven't seen that show in years.
  • sean · 1 year ago
They definitely do have south park.

And I thought the same thing too, but I knew you wouldn't steal. Just a coincidence.
  • Ponyboy · 1 year ago
I'm Norwegian myself, and I find the idea of a whale commanding an attack on Norway as a payback for us eating whale meat highly amusing.
Whale meat is actually quite tasty, much in the same way as meat from sheep, deer, cows, fish, pigs, chicken etc.
  • Daz · 1 year ago
    "Why Norway?"

Norway is the world's major whaling nation.

    Nice work, BTW.

Meh, can take or one, not one of your finest. The whole conspiracy thing has been done to death. But having come back to SCP after a 3 month hiatus I'm glad to see the standard hasn't actually dropped. Looking forward to next week!

Let me be the first to welcome our new Aquatic Overlords ...

Wait, no, he's been down in the basement as long as they can remember. That didn't work.
  • Confused By The Hatin' · 1 year ago
How is this like South Park? The episode Cartoon Wars had manatees... not intelligent talking manatees... pushing little balls around to form random sentences which then became the basis for "Family Guy" jokes. This is about a talking whale buried deep beneath the White House actually running the country. Other than "they both involve sea mammals", it's a totally different joke... the SP one could have been made with any random phrase generator -- as that was the point of the manatees -- and this one could have had any horrible-looking alien intelligence, as that's the point of the whale. The fact that they both picked sea mammals is a coincidence and not really integral to either joke.

What I want to know is, how come McCain's skin looks so dark in this cartoon. Too long under the UV lamps or something?
  • chris · 1 year ago
    WHOO! :)

    Finally a v. good one.

(Also on front page of Digg :))
  • Halceon · 1 year ago
    You missed something:

    B2
    B3
Elevator in front of an area that's about 1.3 floors in height.
    B6
    B7

B4 must be oly accessible to the inner circle of the whale.
  • Kelsey · 1 year ago
I like the comic, but I stared at it for a while, trying to figure out what was wrong with it. I figured it out. The President is sworn in at the White House, which overlooks DC, towards the Capitol building. This comic has him being sworn in at the Lincoln Memorial, which overlooks the reflecting pond and the Washington Memorial.

That is a damn creepy whale, by the way. Hopefully some younger whale will take his place soon. Must be a Supreme Court whale.
  • Speaker to Third Graders · 1 year ago
Sorry, No. Not even a psychotic, demented whale could screw the country up this badly! A chimp with a coke habit on the other hand....
  • Kevin · 1 year ago
OK, so based on what the people on Digg were saying I watched the South Park bit online. I fail to see how anyone could think that it was the same idea. You could replace the whale in this strip with anything else similarly weird - I chose a whale to fit in with the most recent strip fight theme.

I just don't get you sometimes, internet.
  • ShoggothDreams · 1 year ago
For the record, I am the guy who "Dugg" this strip. I noted that folks were Digging a few of your strips, and I wanted to make sure this latest one got some Digg Love. I, too, am baffled as to the SP comparison. Folks just like to talk trash, and since that is the trash they most recently watched on tv....
BTW, if ya read more in-depth in the comments, many if not most of the commenters did not see a SP rip-off. Oh... and thanks for "helping" me get a posting on the front page! (Lasted about an hour, but hey... my prior posts all got at most 4 Diggs. :P

Why is the US President being sworn in by the Australian Prime Minister? :)

Oh. Well. Now I get the whale joke.

Honestly, I thought it was hilarious already. Now that I actually have context for the why... Well. That's just amazing.
  • nullability · 1 year ago
The funny thing is that if there was a whale controlling the government, we'd probably be better off.

Another nice one....although, like some of the other commenters, this did remind me of South Park...
  • moffdub · 1 year ago
Yay, vote for The Messiah because he's black! Or because he has the brain of a whale! Lemmings ahoy!
  • Prozzak6616 · 1 year ago
The only semblance to anything else that I can determine is on "the Colbert Report" where Stephen Colbert had talked about every President-elect having to go down into the depths under the White House and battling a giant spider creature to become President, and not even that is exactly like this edition of the comic :/. So go away nay-sayers.
  • HiddenJoke · 1 year ago
Socialized health care could of helped delay the whale's senility.

The whale's meds have been confiscated at the US/canadian border since 9/11...
  • Chamale · 8 months ago
Looking at this in retrospect, I find it funny how Obama mixed up part of the presidential vow and makes the first frame of this comic incorrect.
