Not every comicist has that kind of legacy.

Re: Simulated Comic Product » Archive » New Car

I don't know where I came from, but I just read through all the strips, starting from most recent and working my way backwards.

You are brilliant at times -- a creative genius at work. I bet your personality quirks are interesting, too.

Please, keep writing.

... and drawing. I love the comics that make me think. It's a nice break from the cruder webcomics I'm used to reading.

Re: Simulated Comic Product » Archive » New Car

The fact that you have all your strips on here is good, because I don't enjoy things that I can't see from the intended beginning to end in completion. For example if you had deleted all these early strips and i found out about it, I would go nuts from wanting to see the early works. Anywho, I now look forward to the evolution.

Re: Simulated Comic Product » Archive » New Car

I thought about 3/4 of the Pre '05 were still funny. I second the notion of the annotations adding a lot. Good stuff.

Re: Simulated Comic Product » Archive » New Car

I'm glad you stuck with it, Aviatrix. It's a tough problem to solve - Some of the early strips are pretty bad, but they are a part of SCP and I want people to get the whole picture. There are also some older strips that are rather ugly, but that I still like. So, I try to get people hooked on the the more recent stuff before sending them back into the primordial ooze.

The annotations are my way of communicating how I feel about each particular strip. I mean to eventually annotate them all, but it's slow going :)

Re: Simulated Comic Product » Archive » New Car

I came from Dinosaur Comics, and I too followed the instructions. You might want to reconsider those instructions. Indeed keep the caveat that the artwork and jokes improve as you go along, but ask people to keep clicking towards the good ones, water than click backwards to the crap. At the end of the clicking, the person thinks, "hmm, should I bookmark this, or is it not funny?"

Consider drawing a line in time between the ones that you are proud of and the ones you really hate, then allowing the archive to begin with the earliest one you are proud of. Keep the others online in a "before I learned to draw" section, or something.

And you know that the very worst ones are better than what most people can draw at all, don't you?

Or do it exactly the way you want. You're getting a bookmark. Oh and I like the annotations. I wish they were all annotated.

Re: Simulated Comic Product » Archive » New Car

I was linked here from 'Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal' and I must say, after reading through the whole archive, this is a great comic. Definitely one of my favorites.

And the improvements you have made are astonishing! You have done a great job on this comic. :D *Thumbs up*

Re: Simulated Comic Product » Archive » New Car

Thanks for taking the time to rate the strips. I'm pleasantly surprised by the response I've had so far.
